It still could be as simple as making relatively useless material useful. For example the following materials would be simply -3 dmg vs. spiritual damage.
Valorite ore
Gargoyle bone
Nightmare hide
So in case of Knight/Rangers it could be up to...
7 parts x -3dmg = -21dmg from rites
+ shoes + leggigns = -27dmg from rites

Leather armor is best for sneaking, because it's literally made from hide.
Re: Veritas, hang in there!
Valorite is broken on its own as it is.
It doesn't work against vampire health drain, nor does it work against Grim Aura "drain"

I understand that you can't have your cake and eat it too but this kind of system would force us to use this combo. Definitely a step towards better days but I'm not totally sure it would give enough of an advantage if there is five priest gunning you down. Add a malleus or a keening and you're toast. This of course questions the whole AoE rite business.Boris wrote:It still could be as simple as making relatively useless material useful. Couldn't agree more.Masano wrote:
PvP could be SO much better if we just accepted that some things are OP and need signifcantly changing or even removing (for both reds and blues).
Solitude- needs removing completely.
Kill- needs nerfing majorly by damage cap but make damage more consistent like (70-100)
Sacrifice- needs damage cap or to be elemental damage.
Veritas- needs huge nerf in damage because it renders melee fighting useless.
Malleus/Keening- needs huge nerf in damage atleast in pvp. up to 60 dmg in 3 seconds and never misses? what the fuck are we thinking?

If you want the game to be more about physical damage, simply boost Veritas/Keening/Malleus in mana consumption or double the chants.

Yeah I suggested that a few months ago.

Okay, option b)...
Unlock new skills. Focus doesn't make much sense, but let it be our example.
Unlock Focus to some religious classes or all classes, but Priests. Focus skill would be known as "magic resistance of spiritual damage". While Priests are strong guys in every area, their worst enemy would be other Priests. So in other words, rites would still do full damage to other Priests.
Focus is counted "Focus / 2 = the % resistance of spiritual damage".
Rangers / Knights = 100 Focus
Monks = 65 Focus
Priests = 0 Focus

Re: Veritas, hang in there!
I'm liking this. ^
Re: Veritas, hang in there!
I like just simply the idea of increasing mana cost. If a side wants to be veritas/maleus/keening focused, then their priests can keep higher int. If they want to be more melee, then they do higher str/dex.
Wouldn't mean that higher str/dex can't do the damaging rites, but would mean that they have to be more tactical about when to use them. For example, dropping a high value target or putting up a defensive perimeter in an emergency.

Re: Veritas, hang in there!
Boris's idea looks good though I still think it would be better if veritas just did 22dmg to everyone. Its too strong atm, just like malleus/keening/sacrifice/kill/solitude. Personally I think all of those just need nerfing across the board for everyone but unfortunately were all used to it.
If someone created an idea for a rite or spell now equivalent to any of those rites or spells listed above I dont think theyd ever be implemented so surely its wrong that they exist in their current format.

Re: Veritas, hang in there!
We could forget the skill idea and tie the system to piety.
0 piety = 10%
10 piety = 20%
20 piety = 30%
30 piety = 40%
40 piety = 50%
vs. spiritual damage
Cap is at 50%, so there's no extra gain for 50p or 60p. This makes the system equal for all Priests/Monks/Rangers/Knights... also a small bonus for the 0 piety classes compared to no devotion at all.
